Darlene Pestreich was born and
raised in Rosebud County, Montana.
As a child she possessed a love for
animals and art. Growing up in a
rural area she had a lot of
subjects with the many farm animals
and wildlife around. She has always
had many companion animals in her
life.
The 80’s was when she was
introduced to oil paint and knew
this was to be her medium of
choice. She has since experimented
with many mediums and styles but
prefers oil paint and her style is
ever evolving.
Her feeling for animals is
reflected in her paintings. Each
subject is given its own spirit and
emotion to reflect the uniqueness of
all creatures. She feels their life,
joy and pain. Darlene captures a
moment in time that most people will
never observe in the wild. She
paints what she sees in her mind,
part real, part fantasy. Drawing
and painting is as much a part of
her life as breathing, it is just
always there.
